Why can't I forward my BSD email to my @uchicago.edu address?

In short, the answer is security (i.e. HIPAA and the like). The BSD does not permit users to forward email to areas other than the BSD and the Hospital. This includes any area outside of the Organized Health Care Agreement (OHCA). Unfortunately, the BSD can’t be certain that outside email providers, including the University, meet the security requirements of HIPAA, FERPA or any other government regulations.

Customers wishing to give out their @uchicago.edu address can forward their Uchicago address to their BSD account. Help on how to do this is available from NSIT's site, http://cnet.uchicago.edu.
