BSDIS cannot support machines that are not supported BSD assets (i.e. not purchased with BSD funds and used for personal use, used by non-BSD affiliates, etc).
BSDIS provides reasonable-effort support for desktop machines in non-University locations (i.e. personal residences, public places, etc.). BSDIS personnel do not make visits to personal residences. "Reasonable effort" therefore means troubleshooting that can be performed from off site (i.e. via the service desk or via instructions from a field engineer).
BSDIS will support laptops which are BSD assets. If you require assistance with a laptop, please make an appointment with a BSD technician on a day when the laptop is in-house.
All BSD machines in non-University locations must be asset tagged and inventoried. Connection problems from remote locations are supported on a reasonable-effort basis only, due to possible external factors outside BSDIS control (i.e. quality and stability of 3rd party internet connection, ISP-specific settings, public wireless access points, etc.)
