BSD Exchange Migration coming to Medicine and Pediatrics

The Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics will begin migrating to the divisional Active Directory and Exchange environments in December.

Active Directory (AD)will facilitate the management of network accounts, computers, and directories. After the migration is complete, the Global Address List (GAL) will contain addresses for affiliates all across the division, including the Hospital.

AD will also make sharing & accessing resources across departments easier, since going forward only one account and password will be required for BSD resources (instead of a Medicine account, BSD-Dean account, etc.) One small example is the BSDIS support request system, formerly only available to a small percentage of customers but soon available to Medicine and Pediatrics as well.

The rollout of a divisional Microsoft Exchange system will also have its benefits. Along with being more stable and secure than individual departments' legacy email systems, the divisional
